Nike announces a new Web3 platform

Nike is launching a new blockchain based platform called .Swoosh (pronounced "dot Swoosh") this Friday, November 18. According to their announcement, this new platform will be a marketplace for Nike’s digital creations. Imagine, OpenSea but for shoes and other apparel NFTs ??

.Swoosh is built on the Polygon blockchain, so the gas prices are likely to be lower than OpenSea. This is Nike’s first big move in the Web3 and metaverse spaces. Although the apparel giant has been filing metaverse trademarks since 2021, Nike aims to use Web3 technologies to create a community of its most loyal customers. It is possible that these "superfans" who will buy products on the new .Swoosh platform will also be able to participate in exclusive events, vote on future designs, and earn royalties.
