TEDxGreekStWomen inspires women for the year ahead
Our latest TEDxGreekStWomen event showed that the issues of diversity and inclusion are still front of mind for so many women and men in our industry. This year’s event, which we held virtually last week on December 2nd, brought together professionals from a range of organisations to discuss progress on gender and wider inclusion.
Our online event gave the stage to three brilliant women:?Dori Tunstall,?Kim Miller, and?Jeanniey Walden. They spoke about their own experiences overcoming prejudice and gave pointers on the wider struggles for inclusion.
Dori Tunstall is a designer and anthropologist working as a Dean at?OCAD University?in Toronto, the first black Dean of a design faculty anywhere in the world. She talked about the important role of “supertokens” – those executives, leaders and politicians from diverse backgrounds who are hired as tokens to signal an organisation’s drive for diversity.?
Meanwhile, Jeanniey Walden, the Chief Marketing Officer at?DailyPay, Inc., talked about how every employee should be encouraged to excel in their roles by unleashing their “superpowers.” She believes everyone can be a superhero if they breathe what she calls AIR – to be authentic, inspirational and relatable.?
For Kim Miller, Group Chief Marketing Officer at?The Economist, the trend to hybrid working which blends working from home with time spent in the office is creating ideal conditions for women as it has legitimised the idea of a work/life balance.
I was so inspired by these talks, and they have made me even more determined to build for greater diversity and inclusion over the coming year. I think everyone who attended TEDxGreekStWomen 2021 has added to their understanding and will be inspired to carry the flame in their own organisations. Thanks to all of you who attended.
