We've had a WIFI dead spot in our house forever.

I had two choices.

  1. Drive 20 minutes each way to the Xfinity store and wait 1-2 hours in the lobby.
  2. Order the WIFI extender online and wait a few days.

I chose option 2.

The package was shipped the next day from Fairview, OR, about 600 miles north of me.

Day two the package arrived in Romeoville, Illinois.

Huh?

Day three the package arrived in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Wait a minute...

Day four the package arrived in Flagstaff, Arizona.

We're kinda heading in the right direction.

Day five the package arrived in Barstow, California.

We're getting closer...

Day six the package arrived in Stockton, California.

Day seven the package arrived in Richmond, California.

Richmond is about 10 miles from my home, and it will take two more days to arrive.

The package could've traveled 600 miles south, but it's going to travel over 2000 miles.

This circuitous route reminds me of my business.

When I started my business in 1995, I had no plan.

I had no strategy.

Companies needed to get on the internet and I was one of the few who knew how to do it.

It was classic Eugene Schwartz.

I found a mass desire and filled the need.?

Boy, did I fill a need.

People were throwing money at me to get on the internet before their competitors.

Business was booming until the mass desire disappeared.

The dot com crash slowed my business significantly.

Internet providers also created self-configuring routers which was the final nail in the coffin for this offer.

For years, my business was a roller coaster because I had no strategy.

No revenue roadmap.

I was in reactive mode, constantly hunting for the next mass desire.

I'd fill the need until the mass desire disappeared, and then my business stalled until I found the next mass desire.

Finally, I learned how to create a strategy for my business.

I created a roadmap to revenue.

I documented what I did to grow from 0 to $50K.

$50K to $100K.

$100K to $500K.

Business still fluctuates, but the roller coaster has flattened out because I know how to generate revenue using my roadmap.
