Ted Lasso, on being a Sales Pros

Well, howdy there, friend! Ted Lasso here, and let me tell you, soccer (Sales) is a sport that's near and dear to my heart. But to answer your question, how well do we really know and understand soccer (Sales)?


Well, I'll tell you what - we may think we know sales like the back of our hand, but the truth is, there's always more to learn. Sales is a beautiful game, with all sorts of different strategies, tactics, and skills that Salespeople use to outsmart and outplay their opponents.


Sales professionals are some of the most confident people found in any company. But my question to you, confident sales Pros is, could you be dropped into any business, anywhere, selling anything and still be successful?


While we may not always understand every little detail of the sales process, that's part of what makes it so exciting. Every sales motion and interaction is different, and there's always a chance for something unexpected to happen.


But at the end of the day, what really matters is whether we KNOW our process and have our foundational sales principles deeply ingrained- controlling the CONTROLLABLES.

So that our leadership, coworkers, and clients appreciate the skill and dedication we bring to the table (pitch) as true professionals.


Whether we’ve been in sales for 1 or 20 years, just like playing any sport, it doesn’t mean you’re a PRO. As Ted would say, just enjoying a friendly kickabout with our pals, soccer (Sales) is a sport that brings people together and reminds us all of the joy of teamwork and competition.


I’m no Lasso, but I say that a focused and consistent effort in building and developing your skills, with consistent examination from both yourself and outside perspectives, will make you great! Sales jobs are like playing sports – you can get all levels because of a low barrier of entry- but it takes a ton of work to be great!


So, keep loving the game of sales, my friend, and never stop learning and growing as a player (Sales Rep/leader). Who knows, you might surprise yourself with how much you can accomplish!
