Thailand's space industry is gaining international attention as Singapore's ELITE satellite prototype undergoes testing at the GISTDA facility in Chonburi, Thailand.
The testing of Singapore's Extremely Low Earth Imaging Technology Explorer (ELITE) satellite is a collaborative effort between Thailand's Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) and Nanyang Technological University’s Satellite Research Centre (NTU Singapore). This marks the first time a foreign satellite has been tested in Thailand, showcasing the country's growing capabilities in the space sector. The satellite, the largest ever tested in Thailand, is being subjected to rigorous thermal vacuum, vibration, and mass properties testing to ensure its efficiency. Pornthep Navakitkanok, Director of GISTDA’s National Satellite Manufacturing Centre, highlighted the importance of this milestone in enhancing Thailand's reputation and potential in the global space industry.

King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) has launched Thailand's first comprehensive semiconductor research and development (R&D) centre, KAISEM, to enhance the country's role in the global semiconductor supply chain.
KAISEM serves as a central hub for semiconductor innovation, uniting experts across disciplines to advance research and electronic manufacturing. The centre focuses on developing specialised talent by equipping students and professionals with the skills needed in the semiconductor industry. Strategic partnerships with global leaders like National Instruments (NI) further enhance KAISEM's academic and research capabilities. KMITL President Dr Komsan Maleesee emphasized that Thailand’s potential as a stable manufacturing hub can be realized through education, infrastructure, and strategic collaborations.
KAISEM's establishment positions Thailand as a key player in the evolving semiconductor industry, leveraging R&D, talent development, and global partnerships to secure its place in the global supply chain.

Thai Airways (THAI) is embarking on a transformative journey in its pricing strategies through a multi-year partnership with RateGain Travel Technologies, utilizing the AirGain platform.
This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen THAI’s competitive position in the global aviation market. Operating from Suvarnabhumi Airport, the airline is a key member of the Star Alliance network and currently operates a fleet of 79 aircraft, with plans to expand to 89 by 2025. THAI reported a 10.7% increase in revenue for Q1 2024, totaling 45,955 million baht, driven by a resurgence in passenger travel to key destinations like Europe, Australia, and Japan. The partnership with RateGain underscores THAI’s commitment to refining its pricing strategies on both domestic and international routes.

?? Bank Negara Malaysia Launches Integrated Platform to Combat Financial Scams
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), along with Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) and financial institutions, has launched the National Fraud Platform (NFP) to enhance the capabilities of the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC).
The NFP automates the entire process of handling scam reports and tracing stolen funds, allowing financial institutions to quickly track and recover funds across the financial system. It also facilitates effective information sharing and collaboration within the industry, enabling better identification and monitoring of mule accounts. In addition to the NFP, the financial industry has agreed on standardized procedures for reporting and handling mule accounts to improve data quality and ensure affected account holders can access basic financial services. These efforts support BNM’s multi-pronged approach to combating financial scams, which includes ensuring fair treatment for victims of unauthorized transactions.

Tidal, based in Trondheim, Norway, uses a combination of sensors, robotics, data science, and AI to improve salmon farming. The technology offers farmers real-time monitoring, yield estimates, and early detection of issues like sea lice. This approach is already being deployed in 230 systems across Norway and has seen trials in Chile and Brazil. Alphabet remains a minority owner, while Tidal seeks external funding to expand further.
