Technology For Safely Returning To School

As the Kentucky Department of Education has issued guidelines for Schools to help open for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year, we at Motorola Solutions and Avigilon have been busy working on solutions to help businesses and schools to reopen and help monitor COVID-19 Operations and Response.  

We recently worked with Perry Township School district in Indianapolis on a great use case study located here. This Use Case helps detail some of the possibilities of a unified Video Security and Communication platform.

Wearing Masks and Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)  

Avigilon Control Software contains a video camera analytic that helps Schools detect if person is wearing a Face Mask as recommended by the CDC. This information could be sent in real time alerts to Administrators via a Motorola Radio and/or a Mobile Device through our ACC Mobile 3 Application.

Contactless Skin Temperature Screening with Thermal Cameras

Our new Avigilon H4 Thermal Elevated Temperature Detection camera coupled with a black body uniform temperature source device set at a threshold reference temperature of 98.6 degrees will read the thermal signature of a person's skin temperature which is intended to be a complement to medical-grade devices and professional opinion. This screening station could be set up in the reception area for a pre-check procedure to evaluate a school based screening.

  Occupancy Counting

Avigilon cameras and ACC? software leverage AI-powered video analytics to detect and track the ingress of people into your building or any area you need to track occupancy within the building like lunchrooms or gymnasiums. The technology helps automate the counting of people entering and exiting a facility. The occupancy dashboard can be viewed on any device that can display a web page that is connected to the building network 

Social Distancing - Analytics

Avigilon has released Social Distancing Technology which provides a Video Analytic embedded in our H5A Cameras to determine the proximity of one person to another person. You can generate reports of where and when social distancing violations occur.

Body Worn Cameras for School Faculty and Staff

Avigilon has released a body-worn camera that can be worn for everyday use to assist in recording video and audio to document School-Based Screening for temperature checks. To have accurate documentation, the administrator can manually record in first person view the screening of a student, employee or visitor. This recording can be streamed back to the fixed video Network Video Recorder to be used for further review or real time monitoring.
