Innovations in the world of AI are steadfastly becoming the talk of the town. As a person born in the 90s era & dedicated my career to the technology space for a decade now, this change sometimes does feel overwhelming. Seeing the Television in a box-like setup to moving to LCD & LED screens was a gradual process but now we have Robots acting as waiters, this was too quick for me to digest. That’s when I took a step back & realized how much technology has changed the world, now we don’t have a helper at home to do brooming & mopping we’ve a scheduled vacuum cleaner who does the job at the scheduled time & all this is operated on my fingertips via a phone application. Also, gone are the days when you had to run out to buy small ingredients like chilies and coriander, it is now available a click away and home-delivered fresh & ready to consume.
This makes me wonder just in three decades we have become heavily reliant on technology to support our daily activities & it has crept on to us like the tortoise who won the race against the rabbit. Such thoughts are scary, imagine a robot taking care of you instead of your loved one. Would this make me happy? This also makes me think about how many sectors are working towards being technology-friendly. Restaurants we’ve discussed, healthcare? I saw this billboard where they were advertising Robotic Surgery. I was fascinated by it hence thought of enquiring. I was told it is a technique where a robotic arm would be attached to the surgeon & the console for controlling the arm would be in the hands of the surgeon & there are various complex surgeries done using this technique. Though this sounds interesting but makes me believe that in some way artificial intelligence in healthcare would be a long-drawn process.
One more place I could think of is the transport sector, remember in the 90s world our parents used to stand in long queues to book long-distance train tickets now it is IRCTC away. Though we can’t control how technology will be used in the future, we can surely control the way we spend our time making us think deeply about our efficiency. Oh! I just picked up my phone & there was Facial Recognition indeed technology has become a language of comfort for now but for generations to come would it be a boon or curse? Take a moment & think about how technology is dominating your daily life.
