Technology is expensive or made it expensive

Today I would like to share my observations made from 20 years of experience, I have learned and witnessed that people who strive to make businesses run whether it is small, medium and large, all actually want to throttle at full speed with the help of technology. Very loudly we hear that Technology is making business easier, more efficient and more effective than yesterday and every business should embrace the new technologies for changing needs of the customer in ever changing market. It is very much true.
But we also see a significant rise in expenditure year on year by these businesses on adopting new technologies or managing the existing ones, actually a complex web of vendors, implementation partners and so called tech companies making it an expensive elixir and they positioned it as a life-saving drug to run the businesses. It is a hard hitting truth, in today’s time for many businesses this is a far-fetched pill that is hard to inject and tough to digest.
Most of us may not agree with this viewpoint and will immediately say many tech companies that are ruling in today’s world had very humble beginnings and/or people from nowhere made it to everywhere with their tech ideas. I was absolutely delighted to read about these success stories of individuals who made their wonderful ideas into great software pieces which changed the direction of how businesses serve their customers.?Later part of their journey all turned up into multibillion dollar companies that are charging hefty prices to their clients for their IT services.

Let me share a few glimpses of the negative side of this rising cost of expenditure on IT services incurred by clients. Most of the Micro/Small/Medium businesses struggle to make a difference in their market and try for less efficient IT services vendors/integrators to bring a technological shift in their businesses which may not help them to survive in this ruthless market competition. At the Macro level, for most Governments from developed nations to developing ones struggle to upgrade their existing IT Infrastructure or shift to new ones because they cannot afford to spend millions or billions due to this they are lacking in technological efficiency in their country’s vital sectors like Hospitals/Education/Civil services etc.
If we delve into the depths of layers of this, it is apparently a systematic upraise of the exorbitant costs of the IT services market, it is a palpable game of few big clients and these tech companies are collaboratively making these IT Services highly unaffordable for the rest of the businesses in their market to maintain their dominance. To my understanding of the problem, it is not an incurable ailment but we definitely need a methodical approach to dismantle the layers of the complex web which is causing the cost of these IT services. To be frank, more than an approach or a solution we need a collective will to make things better. The broader purpose of technology is to make the world a better place for people and businesses but somehow we are drifting away from this core purpose.????
