In the current world, most of the wealthy individuals are chasing prime real estate around the globe, while forward thinkers are focused on disrupting industries with cryptocurrencies, distributed ledger technologies, digital innovation focused on decentralization, shifting power back to the people. The ‘old money’ real estate investors are looking for something new, as there is never enough supply to meet demand when it comes to the global commercial real estate. The capital for these investments is abundant. The millennials and forward thinkers are looking to change the world through a digital lens, where rapid change and evolution occur in a matter of days and months, as opposed to years and decades. That being said, there is a common ground that can be had…where differences are set aside and mutual interests can align. As a global community, we need a way to mend the generational gaps when it comes to technology. It’s human nature to fear the unknown, experience risk aversion, fall into a cycle of repetition and comfort, all while resisting change and evolution as we fear we are being overthrown, outdated and replaced by technological innovations that will make our ‘job’ obsolete in a few years.

Instead of looking toward centralized bodies of governments, banks, institutions, and multinational corporations to help regulate, mediate, and intervene in this new digital wave, we should be looking within ourselves, reaching out to others across the globe in the digital community to fix the world’s problems amongst ourselves. The new world will consist of decentralized systems, ‘banking the unbanked’ in developing countries, P2P- B2B - P2B direct transactions, real-time global trade settlement, real-time wire and bank transfers, energy sharing, a decentralized web, eliminating censorship, and ‘unbanking the banked’ in developed nations, among many other solutions to existing global issues that we face and feel we have no control over.

It’s time to wake up. Open your eyes. Take a step back. Look at the big picture for a second.
