Technically Better Security

Technically Better Security

We live in a rapidly changing world and Ai has become in many instances both a resource and a curse. You will find camps of people that are so proudly Ai supportive that they overlook any downsides – the loss of jobs down the line and the hooks in personal information and its subsequent sharing. Counter to this, you will also find those that are so anti it that they refuse to onboard it in any way, leaving themselves susceptible to becoming obsolete (for want of better terminology) and sacrificing layers of safety that new technology can provide.

?

At Marshall Guarding we employ Ai to do ‘good’ in a good way, by understanding that it is the mutual compatibility of Ai and the people that drive it, that make it a successful and enviable tool in the fight against crime. In short, we employ tech, some of which we will highlight below, but we also employ people, with eyes, ears, honesty and integrity to interpret the data that Ai helps us all see, and take appropriate action thereafter.

?

  • Access Control

Involving Ai in access control allows us to identify patterns and make predictions based on those – indeed we move from reactive and proactive security to predictive security.? Now we can analyze changes in user behavior, and can note things that the human eye may miss or misinterpret, like lingering by a particular access point, multiple failed entries, or tailgating (someone sneaking in access behind a credentialled person). In this way, we can respond to potential issues before they become a risk.

?

Chat interfaces make team communication quick and easy, with everyone having access to the same variable data.????

?

  • Integration

Ai systems are able to integrate with various other security systems, to provide more comprehensive solutions. For instance, facial recognition applied to video surveillance systems. Unauthorized personnel (or even suspects already in criminal databases external to the organisation) can trigger a flag or alarm that helps security take appropriate action.

?

  • Biometrics

Access cards were great once, but they are an outdated, and easily corrupted form of identification these days. The use of biometrics in the form of fingerprints, iris scans and facial recognition offer far safer access control and more intuitive and useable data.

?

  • Off Site Monitoring – CCTV

The use of CCTV as virtual guards has revolutionized the way that businesses and estates run their security. The manpower needed to patrol every access point and variable creates extraordinary expense, however now we can mount cameras in relevant places, that feed information to a centrally monitored control room, both onsite and offsite (our own 24-hour control room) for appropriate action.

?

Virtual lines cannot be crossed without triggering a response, and cameras are able to run facial recognition, and analyze threats – for instance they are able to tell if they have been crossed by an animal or a car or a person, then triggering the appropriate response based on this. This saves time, money and resources.

?

There are many ways in which the world of Ai and people will continue to intersect, but we feel there is no arena more meaningful and helpful than that of security, if used with appropriate care.
