TECHNICAL UNITS: Engineering

TECHNICAL UNITS: Engineering

Within the Technical Direction, the Technical Unit (TU) for Engineering has two focus areas, which are interrelated to a certain extent:

  1. Product and System Specification
  2. Automation Specification

We believe that these two focus areas have interesting growth potential for ALTEN in Switzerland because we can provide particularly valuable services to our clients.

Product development and manufacturing is the core business of most of our clients in engineering. Therefore, basically, all our clients are strong in detailed design, e.g., mechanics, electronics, control software, etc., and in the actual manufacturing of their products.

Meanwhile, today's products and production facilities are becoming increasingly complex. Many companies, however, tend to develop their methodological skills and organizational structures much more slowly than the technologies they integrate into their products or use for production.?As a result, many companies are far less strong in the engineering disciplines that focus on mastering complexity.

In contrast, ALTEN in Switzerland is very strong in the engineering disciplines that focus on mastering complexity, which manifests itself in particular in the Technical Unit’s six Competence Centres:

  • Requirements Engineering
  • Reliability Engineering, Functional Safety, Product Conformance
  • Product -/ System-Architecture
  • Automation Concepts
  • User Experience (UX) & Industrial Design
  • Unusual Problems & Feasibility Studies

Thanks to these Competence Centres and their highly competent Leaders (CCLs), we are able to offer engineering solutions that enable our clients to close their competence gaps for mastering complexity. Therefore, when working with ALTEN, companies can realise product developments, and new automation concepts even more successfully and cost-effectively.
