TechInHealth Day

TechInHealth Day

In line with the pursuit of creating & promoting the Medical Device & Healthcare ecosystem, NASSCOM CoE AI & IoT, Gurugram organised “TechInHealth Day” on 7th December 2019.

TechInHealth Day was a Healthcare Innovation showcase that brought together deeply curated innovative solutions in the healthcare domain for a Product Demonstration to Government delegates, Healthcare experts, Pharma companies, Hospitals & Medical Research Institutes.

Some of the Innovative solutions that were showcased include:

  • Agva Healthcare: World’s cheapest Portable ventilator with Volume Pressure and Flow modes
  • Incredible Devices: Catheter reprocessing system to bring down the cost of cardiac interventions
  • Medprime Technologies: India’s first smartphone integrated portable microscope
  • Radical Health: Retinal scan based detection of diseases that are local to the eye as well as systemic
  • Healthcubed: Point of care diagnostic device for Anaemia, Dengue, Typhoid, Malaria etc
  • Gesture Research: Augmented Reality based Gesture recognition solution for Neurosurgeons
  • Sattva Medtech: Remote fetal health monitoring device for prenatal care
  • TorchiT: Assistive device for the visually impaired

Agva Healthcare, developed by Prof Diwakar Vaish & Dr Deepak Aggarwal, AIIMS, has the world’s cheapest portable ventilator, which comes at 1/20th of the price of the portable ventilators that cost around Rs 4-5 lakh. These ventilators run on room air without the need for compressed medical oxygen to provide ventilation with the patients staying at home instead of having to live in the hospital. It can deliver 100% FiO2 when connected to Oxygen Source. The entire ventilator can be controlled by a capacitive multi-touch interface with extremely simple control. Gesture control lets easy operation without much training. It comes with Apnea Detection with volume guaranteed backup ventilation.

Incredible Devices, developed by Vikram Goel & Rajwinder Kaur is a patent-pending product which helps in safe and cost-effective reprocessing of angiography/angioplasty catheters, thereby reducing the cost of catheters by 99%. Hospitals can now easily make savings of approx. ? 1-3 Lakh per month using CRS despite sharing cost-benefit with patients and can easily recover the cost of the system with 4 to 8 months depending upon workload.

Medprime Technologies, led by Greeshma Unnikrishnan, Samrat, Binil Jacob & Mahesh K. Rathor, has built a patent approved smartphone integrated portable microscope that is suitable for diagnostic and research applications. CILIKA, has a redesigned optical system to obtain the same path length in a smaller space without compromising on resolution or magnification. Digitising microscopy allows images to be sent from one place to another easily for diagnosis & integration with Hospital Information Systems, which coupled with the processing power of phones and tablets, helps in automating some of the tests.

Healthcubed, led by Sridhar Ramanathan & Ramanan Laxminarayan, is an ISO 13485 certified & CDSCO cleared portable device, that performs tests on vitals, biochemistry & haematology, malaria, dengue, typhoid & urine parameters etc within minutes. Over 150 Healthcubed ecosystems have been deployed across 20 districts in 9 states under Village Social Entrepreneurs CSR project and over 38000 beneficiaries impacted under Anemia Mukt Bharat in Telangana.

Speaking during the occasion, Ankur Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Information Technology Electronics & Communication, (DITECH), Government of Haryana, informed that “tech innovations in healthcare are the need of the hour and such innovations shouldn’t be restricted to urban setup and must reach to rural areas of the country.”

Sudhanshu Mittal, Director -Technical Solutions & Head- NASSCOM Centre of Excellence IoT & AI, Gurugram, said, “The healthcare challenges in India are huge and digital technology has a large role to play in addressing those challenges. While Center of Excellence – IoT & AI is committed to bringing innovative solutions to its platform, the user community also needs to rise to the challenge by opening up to the digital technology adoption and by providing inputs to the developer community so that we can have indigenous solutions to our problems.”

Dr Sachin Gupta - Advisor to ICMR-Centre of Innovation and Bio Design (CIBioD) said, “I appreciate the efforts of NASSCOM in terms of the visibility they are providing to the Technology driven Healthcare startups and that this will go a long way in achieving Prime Minister’s mission of delivering affordable healthcare to all the citizens.”
