Techcetera - Holiday Edition?!
Dall-E still not up to Midjourney's standard but hey, it's the one I have.

Techcetera - Holiday Edition?!

Black Friday deals after Halloween? Guess we'll skip Thanksgiving altogether.

This week's interesting news (at least to me) is that Amazon and Meta are partnering. Essentially, now when you see an ad, you could be taken to Amazon. (Source)

Things That Make You Go "Hmmm?"

With the holiday season apparently already here, I'm wondering what's going on with the king of retailers, Walmart. Walmart created a marketplace but if they wanted they'd could give Amazon a good run online.

Another Week, Another Google Change

This time Google changes up how Review sites get ranked. Now all those old forums that have outdated information but a least it's not "AI", amirite?

Here's a post about some tweets that suggest that Google says, "buckle up." There's a lot of hysteria around these changes and for good reason, many sites have had their traffic annihilated. However, it's pretty clear that Google is a complete mess at the moment, so making a bunch of changes make a ton of sense.

Even still...

Organic traffic is still the most cost effective traffic over the course of a year.

Open AI Continues To Push

You can now make your own GPT and the possibilities are pretty great. Here's the top 5 highlights of a longer list you can read here.

  1. GPT-4 Turbo with 128K Context - More Power & Faster. It's also better at following instructions and supports JSON. Vision too.
  2. New Assistants API: This API simplifies the process for developers to create AI apps with goals, and call models and tools. It includes features like Code Interpreter and Retrieval.
  3. Multimodal Capabilities: The platform now supports vision, image creation (DALL·E 3), and text-to-speech, broadening the scope of AI applications.
  4. DALL·E 3 API: This allows developers to incorporate DALL·E 3 into their applications for image generation.
  5. Copyright Shield: A new initiative to protect customers from copyright infringement claims related to the use of OpenAI’s services.

Someone on Threads posted about LinkedIn:

LinkedIn confirms it will be removing all carousels, profile videos, and all clickable links within images and videos, starting December 14th, 2023This is NOT the carousels created by uploading PDFs.

We'll see if I need to do a newsletter next week..., might already need to write about Christmas.
