Tech Tuesday: The Future of Transportation
Scarlett Sieber
Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, Money20/20. Contributor, Forbes. Author, Wiley. International Speaker. Board Member.
Marina Gavito is set out for the future. I am lucky to call her a friend and remain close as she continues to grow. Marina's passion, ability to get scrappy when she needs to, and her resilience speaks volumes. She is deeply connected to her hometown of San Antonio, Texas and has her pulse on the future of her city and beyond. As a board member for VIA, a Committee Member for the San Antonio Airport Committee Development Committee, a corporate innovator, and the Chairman of the Board for M.O.V.E. Texas Marina is going big places. I for one, can't see what Marina conquers next.

How/why did you get into tech?
I was introduced to the tech world via PREP (the pre-freshman engineering program).
In this program, speakers- including women- came to talk to us every Friday. I was fascinated by the women in tech and the problems they were focused on solving.
What role do you play in the tech ecosystem?
I do lots of connecting and community-building. San Antonio, where I'm based, is spread out and our tech ecosystem tends to be in silos. So connecting the dots tends to be a pivotal (and sometimes hard!) role.
What do you believe is the most exciting tech trend for 2019?
I'm interested to see how things play out with social media channels. You see people abandoning Facebook and jumping to Instagram and I’m curious if that trend will continue and how it will all shake out.
Who is a person in tech that inspires you? Why?
My old boss Karin and my current boss Lea. I love how both support and promote women in tech. They are both so incredible and have pushed me to my next level!
What advice would you give for someone who wants to get into tech?
If you're a woman- having presence (and confidence) is extremely important. It’s not easy, but study up on tips and tricks to get you there.

That is really an interesting subject, nearly seven billion people every day move forward and back from work with different kind of transportation.? Nowadays we are involved in new technology where some people talk insistently about Electric means of powering without an accurate and complete economic study of convenience. If all our standard services using Electric Power plus the number of circulating vehicle the world round using Electric Power, are we sure to manage favorably the new idea considering we will certainly need to multiply the present production of Electric Power by ten or twenty times?? With the present cost of the Electric Kw per hour, are we in condition to sustain the Electric Transport will be more Economic considering after all that we have to stock the Electric Power and we will need additional costly Accumulators to warrant the continuous feeding of Electric Power?? How long will last the Accumulator?? For or five years?? Also considering all the present alternative mean of producing Electric Power by the Wind or the Sun, are costly and of limited efficiency???
