- Vancouver-based recycling startup ChopValue, founded by Felix B?ck, has secured an additional $4M in its Series A round from InBC Investment Corp. This follows an earlier $15M raise in April. While the investors were not disclosed, the round included two notable tech entrepreneurs, corporate venture capital funds, and existing investors.
- Quebec-based Aplantex, a startup specializing in extracting plant molecules from proprietary biomass, has secured $2.8M in financing. Led by Frederick Perrault, the round saw participation from the Circular Innovation Fund, Cycle Momentum, Investissement Québec, and angel investors. The funds will accelerate Aplantex's strategic and production plans.
- Thera, a payroll and payments platform founded by Akhil Reddy, has raised $4M in seed funding. The round was led by Y Combinator, with participation from 10x Founders, Amino Capital, Zillionize, and Bayhouse Capital. Notable angel investors include Oliver Jung, Chris Bakke, Andrew Yeung, Akash Magoon, and Bobby Matson.
- Propel, a consumer tech company founded by Jimmy Chen, Ram Mehta, and Jeff Kaiser, has secured a $3.5M grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The funds will develop AI tools to improve access to government programs like SNAP. Propel has revolutionized how low-income Americans manage public benefits.
- Linker Finance, founded by Jorge Garcia, has raised $3.7M in seed funding to modernize digital banking for community banks. Led by Ten One Ten Ventures and Chingona Ventures, the round included contributions from Audaz Capital, Techstars, and notable angels. Linker Finance aims to boost the digital capabilities of community banks, which are crucial in supporting the U.S. economy.
- PrivacyHawk, founded by Aaron Mendes, has reached over 1 million users in just two years and raised an additional $3M in funding. Investors include US News & World Report, K Street Capital, ffVC, and others, positioning the company for further growth in consumer data protection.
