Tech Pulse Hackathon Concludes with Groundbreaking Innovations for Social and Environmental Impact

Four Winning Teams Recognized; Calicut University Campus Team Emerges as Champion?

The Tech Pulse Hackathon, a statewide innovation challenge for college students in Kerala, concluded today with the recognition of four winning teams for their groundbreaking solutions aimed at driving social and environmental impact. Organized by ULTS and UL Cyber Park as part of ULCCS’s centenary celebrations, the event saw young innovators tackling pressing challenges through technology-driven solutions.?

While inaugurating the closing ceremony, A N Shamseer, Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, underscored the importance of translating these ideas into real-world applications. He commended the students for their problem-solving mindset and highlighted ULCCS’s legacy of executing high-impact projects, including its role in automating the Kerala Legislative Assembly through ULTS.?

“The innovations we’ve seen here have immense potential, we need solutions that go beyond managing disasters to actively mitigate them” said Shamseer. “It is imperative that such solutions move beyond competition and translate into tangible solutions that drive sustainability and social progress.”?

Suhas Soman, CEO of Dhanalakshmi Group, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, which was chaired by Rameshan Paleri, Chairman of ULCCS.?The event was attended by prominent industry leaders, who also served as the judging panel, including Santhosh Kurup (Professor of Practice, Digital University Kerala), Dr. Ashutosh Sarkar (Professor, IIM Kozhikode), Sheen Chungath (CEO, Sesame Technologies), and Anil Balan (Co-founder & COO, Splendre). Shaju S (Managing Director, ULCCS) was also present at the event.??

Over two days, 15 teams comprising 70 students from top colleges across Kerala participated in an intense coding marathon, crafting innovative solutions to tackle societal and environmental challenges. Winners were recognized across four categories, with the team from Calicut University Campus emerging as the overall Hackathon Champion. Teams from NIT Calicut, St. Thomas College (Thrissur), and Sreepathy Institute of Management and Technology (Palakkad) also secured top honors.?

The Tech Pulse Hackathon, organized by ULTS and UL Cyber Park as part of ULCCS’s centenary celebrations, showcased Kerala’s brightest student innovators and their ability to build technology-driven solutions for a better future. The Hackathon Champion team received a cash prize of ?60,000, while winners in other categories were awarded ?30,000 each.?

Awarded for innovative use of AI in their solution.?

Solution: SiteSense – An AI-powered real-time workforce orchestration system using camera-based monitoring, adaptive authentication, and anomaly detection for enhanced security and efficiency.?

Idea Ignitor – St. Thomas College, Thrissur?

Recognized for the most disruptive and high-potential idea.? ?

Solution: An AI-powered Attendance Marking System utilizing gait and face recognition for seamless, contactless authentication. The system integrates with a mobile app for real-time attendance tracking and personalized work schedules.?

Beyond Xperience – Sreepathy Institute of Management and Technology, Palakkad?

Acknowledged for excellence in design and user experience.?

Solution: A Smart Farming App leveraging AI and IoT for weather-based crop recommendations, disease detection, a farmer-vendor marketplace, and multilingual support to enhance productivity and sustainability.?
