Tech News: Onsemi Unveils Ultra-Low Power Image Sensors for Smart Spaces

安森美半导体 is proud to announce the launch of its Hyperlux LP Image Sensor Series, tailored for industrial and commercial cameras. These sensors cater to a wide range of applications, including smart access control, security cameras, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), extended reality (XR) headsets, machine vision, and video conferencing. The series is built upon 1.4 μm pixels, offering leading-edge image quality and low power consumption, ensuring crisp and vivid image capture even in challenging lighting conditions.

What sets this product series apart is its innovative stacked architecture design, which minimizes the product's footprint, with the smallest model being as small as a grain of rice. This makes it the ideal choice for compact devices facing size constraints. Customers have the flexibility to choose from the 5-megapixel resolution AR0544, 8-megapixel AR0830, or the high-resolution 20-megapixel AR2020, depending on their specific requirements.

The Hyperlux LP Series features several performance-enhancing proprietary technologies, including:

  • Motion Wake-Up Function: These sensors can operate in super-low power modes, consuming only a fraction of the power required for full functionality. Once motion is detected, they quickly transition to a higher performance state with a shorter response time.
  • Smart ROI (Region of Interest): Offering multiple regions of interest, this feature delivers multi-window views with lower bandwidth, all while providing windows of the original detailed image.
  • Near-Infrared (NIR) Performance: Leveraging innovative silicon process design and pixel architecture, these sensors provide exceptional image quality in the near-infrared spectrum.
  • Low Power Consumption: These sensors can reduce image quality issues caused by thermal noise, subsequently reducing the need for heat dissipation, thus lowering the overall cost of vision systems.

In addition to smart home devices, the Hyperlux LP Series also promises a more intuitive and seamless video conferencing solution, enhancing the office meeting experience.

Smart home devices
Ashish Thanawala, Sr. Director of Systems Engineering, Owl Labs, stated, "Our video collaboration solutions require high-quality image sensors that bring together multiple factors for the best user experience. The superior optical performance, innovative features and extremely low power consumption of the Hyperlux LP image sensors enable us to deliver a completely immersive virtual meeting experience in highly intelligent and optimized videoconferencing systems."

The Hyperlux LP Image Sensor Series is set to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2023, bringing innovation and excellence to the realm of image sensing technology.
