Tech News: Arm Unveils Cortex-X925 CPU and Immortalis-G925 GPU; Dimensity 9400 to Lead the Pack!

On Wednesday, local time, Arm announced the launch of brand-new CPU and GPU IP based on the Arm v9 architecture, along with design software tools, aimed at enhancing the performance of AI tasks on smartphones and accelerating AI applications.
Arm architecture has long been adopted by global smartphone processor manufacturers, including 苹果 , 高通 , and 联发科技 , gradually expanding into personal computers and data centers. The latest CPU and GPU designs from Arm are tailored to better handle AI computational workloads. Additionally, Arm introduced new software tools to facilitate developers in running various AI codes, such as chatbots, more efficiently on Arm chips.
As a new addition to the Arm v9 architecture CPU product lineup, the Cortex-X925 "Blackhawk"?high-performance CPU serves as an iteration of the previous Cortex-X4. The Cortex-A725 big-core CPU delivers outstanding sustained performance. Furthermore, Arm has updated the Cortex-A520 to optimize energy efficiency for low-intensity workloads. Arm has also enhanced the DynamIQ shared unit (DSU-120) to offer lower power consumption and footprint in Arm v9.2 CPU cluster configurations. All these advancements are integrated into the new Arm Client Computing Subsystem (CSS), making it the fastest Android computing platform in Arm's history.
The Cortex-X925 "Blackhawk" architecture boasts a 36% increase in single-thread peak performance and a 46% improvement in AI performance compared to Cortex-X4. It also features a superior power consumption curve, enabling it to deliver peak performance whenever needed, thus enhancing user experience. The Cortex-X925 incorporates microarchitectural enhancements and up to 3MB of dedicated L2 cache, suitable for fabrication on the 3nm process node. Arm has collaborated with partners to bring Cortex-X925 to production on the 3nm node, significantly reducing chip development and deployment time with ready-to-mass-produce chip solutions.
Compared to the previous Cortex-A720, the Cortex-A725 CPU architecture offers a 35% improvement in performance efficiency and a 25% increase in energy efficiency, and it will also be realized on the 3nm process.

Furthermore, Arm has announced new designs based on the fifth-generation GPU architecture, including the Immortalis-G925 GPU, Mali-G725 GPU, and Mali-G625 GPU.
Notably, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will be one of the first chips to feature the Cortex-X925 CPU and Immortalis G925 GPU, with the initial model likely to be from the vivo X200 series.
