TECH MOMENT
Tomorrow will be an extremely exciting day for many of us. Hopefully techy, nerdy, and no BS. We have put together five sessions, almost like our internal pull events, but this time we will broadcast live from the inside of our product teams to the outside – let’s call it – real world.
1.0
So without spoiling the fun and excitement of what will be revealed, let’s at least hint that we will talk about our electric future, about compute, about safety. Very true to our purpose – provide freedom to move, personal, sustainable and safe. One dot zero of our new future.
FRIENDS
Oh, I almost forgot to mention. We will of course also invite some of our tech friends, broadening the discussion and helping us with the most vicious Q&A’s. Please keep your eyes open tomorrow!

3 年Volvogoteborg on this forum makes some interesting points about the risk of moving EV too early and how its better for sales volumes, revenue to run SPA-2 as ICE and EV versions in parallel using the "two different vehicle floor" approach detailed in some interviews about SPA-2 already. https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/the-wait-for-new-information-on-the-next-generation-volvo%E2%80%99s-is-so-painful.641165/page-9 EV charging infrastructure isn't mature enough for the EV utopia of conveniently replacing ICE vehicles for all users at the moment. Risks alienating customers who don't want EV yet, dropping sales, revenue at this crucial time when heavy investment and R&D is needed into batteries, motors, autonomous drive etc. So ICE and EV in parallel work best for now with the first EV only car (apart from the EV only SEA XC20 and CMA C40) being the next-next XC90 in 2029. With SPA-2 offering ICE and EV you have the safety net of offering both as different markets roll out EV charging infrastructure at different rates. Should the world move faster than the current trend then ICE SPA-2 can be stopped earlier in late 2020s. Maybe the market will deliver on Volvo's ambition to be EV only by 2030 due to sales direction. On the current likely timetable the last SPA-2 car will be in 2033 anyway.
