Tech Lay-offs: An epidemic post the pandemic

According to an industry report, big Tech layoffs at 谷歌 , 微软 , and 亚马逊 have largely impacted hi-flying, senior executives. Notably, in Google’s case, #laidoffprofessionals comprise strategy champions, recruiting heads, and go-to-market teams earlier recognised for their high performance with annual compensation packages of $500,000 to $1 million. In fact, the 12,000 Google lay-offs span virtually every department, including #GoogleCloud, #Chrome, #Android and "search-related” groups. Google parent #Alphabet has folded many activities of ‘Area 120’, the R&D division which helped develop #Gmail, #AdSense, #GoogleNews, and #GoogleCardboard.

#Microsoft has laid off 10,000 employees, thereby impacting #Halo, its game development studio, mixed-reality headset teams, as also #AltspaceVR, the VR-based social platform. At Amazon, the devices and services division endured the maximum hit, impacting close to 2,000 people working on #Alexa and #Echo smart home devices. Media reports suggest #PrimeAir drone teams have also been significantly impacted. Besides, Amazon is reportedly shutting down "AmazonSmile", its charity donation programme, which has not yielded the intended mileage.
