Tech is at an inflection point
Generative AI has caused so much action in the market today that there is a clear Headwind and an associated tailwind.
This proves one thing - We don't understand Generative AI. We have let ourselves form opinions that are fortified by others in the media. And before you dismiss this as a rant of another naysayer, I'm a big fan of the Zombieverse :D so post-apocalyptic future is something that I am pretty sure is where we are headed. But.... It won't be because of Generative AI. Why?
Generative AI is a class of AI that doesn't have consciousness. It's a Learning Algorithm, pretty good one. But it does not "think". Artificial General Intelligence or AGI is something that is touted to be a thinker. One that can actually comprehend a conversation and generate a solution or counteract the argument based on logic that no one has ever thought of. That's Originality. We are not there.. Yet.
An AGI system should have the following abilities and understanding:

Which is why I keep going back to my original headline - Tech is at an inflection point. We can either accept it and use it to make our lives easier OR we can take the doomsday advice and pull the plug and regulate the entire model and turn it over to the Dark Web and the Underground.
While it may appear that some form and shape of this tech exists currently, it doesn't. Imitation is not the same as Cognitive Critical Thinking. Until an AI can circumvent the limitations placed by the humans that designed it and self-correct its own code, we are still in an era where Humans rule the Jungle.
If you have seen the TV Series "Silicon Valley" [Silicon Valley (TV Series 2014–2019) - IMDb], you would remember the episode where they used their AI model to deploy the Neural Network they created using a compression algorithm to not only learn but also co-create its own code. Ultimately the AI ended up improving itself by removing restrictions in the form of "Encryption" codes. It broke down some of the hardest encryptions in a matter of minutes. That's the apocalypse we are talking about. We are several decades behind that and yes at some point we will have that thanks to the brilliant minds around but ultimately, it's the creator who wins. After all, "The House Always Wins!!"
I'll end this quick article with a statement from Roy Amara - "We tend to overestimate the effect of a technology in the short run and underestimate the effect in the long run". So, for now, let's go guns blazing and use Generative AI in the best possible way we can.
