Organising DEVWorld Conference | Creating the most Valuable & Unique Conference for Tech Teams | Bringing over 30,000 Developers, 9000 Teams and 300 Partners together since 2018.
Last week 27 October we returned for the very first time post-covid with the organisation of another amazing free to attend Frontend Developer Meetup at 荷兰国际集团 organised by JSWORLD Conference and made possible by Passionate People .
We were super excited to bring you back our first post-covid in-person JavaScript Meetup held at ING Amsterdam last Thursday. With 4 amazing talks and 100 developers joining us, it was nothing lesser than a huge success! Find all Meetup Recordings below and all amazing photos here.
Our journey into the JavaScript Conference World kicked off with an eager Community willing to share and learn built since 2014. This is why, when we kicked of with our very first conference in 2018, we made a promise to also continue the creation of Free Learning Opportunities for the Community.
?? Our Next Meetup takes place on 17 November in Amsterdam: React.js Special at Uber Amsterdam: https://www.meetup.com/frontend-developer-meetup-amsterdam/events/289377939/?
BACK TO WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Five years ago, we organised the first Frontend Developer Meetup at ING. To our surprise, the meetup was an unexpected success with 300 developers turning in. From that moment, we thought to ourselves, why not do more, and before we know it, there are JSWORLD Conference and Vuejs. Amsterdam.
Therefore, there is no sweeter return for the first post-covid JavaScript Meetup than to come back to its roots.?
JavaScript Talks?at Last Weeks Meetup
It certainly wouldn’t be a JavaScript Meetup without the talks of our experts from the field. Last Thursday, we had the honour to welcome four impressive talks:?
1. Rendering strategies by Tim van Bergenhenegouwen , Full Stack JavaScript Developer at Passionate People
A little look back on rendering trends and what they have solved. From MPA to SPA, to both?! And now we have something called islands. We are now at a point in time where we have a great collection of strategies to choose from, to whatever fits a project best.
2. ‘Is this the end of E2E?’ by Tobias Kuppens Groot, Developer at ING Belgium
Can we reduce the complexity of testing by moving tests from the top of the testing pyramide into the lower blocks? The major claim is that by relying on generated types from your API's you can make large chunks of your E2E tests obsolete. It's all about reducing complexity, time saving, DX and shortening the feedback-loop without cutting down on quality.
3. Event-driven Dependency Injection by Matias Fernandez Martinez , Developer, at ING Netherlands
What if we could do dependency injection inside our web components without using any third-party tools or frameworks?
Well, we can! Through the power of simple synchronous html events.
Matias spoke about, What are dependency injection. Why to use DI and Code examples.
4. Effortless full-stack type-safety with pure TypeScript by Jasper Haggenburg , Co-founder and developer at Press Play and Phero.
TypeScript is amazing to make your front-end and backend robust and easy to work with, but solving type-safety across the borders of these worlds is a hassle. There’s GraphQL+codegen, or you can bypass it completely with something like Express+Fetch, but there’s a different way: RPC. Phero makes this as easy and low-key as possible, giving you the full power of

TypeScript to define your domain model and API-endpoints, and using it in a type-safe way on the client.
Big Thank you and shout out to all the speakers!?
A brilliant mind won’t work on an empty stomach
That’s right! After a long day at work, it would certainly be demoralising for you to sit for 3 hours straight listening to talk after talk.
That was why we made sure that our developers were served the best amazing Indonesian cuisines with vegan options available.?
Great networking?
Indeed, at the end of the day, the event lived up to its name as it was also a great opportunity for our developers to meet up with colleagues in the field. That’s why we had not only prepared free drinks but also some snacks for the borrelen to begin!?
The smile on your face is what inspires us to keep holding meetups in the future.?
Thank you all who attend, shout out to the speakers and the deepest gratitude to ING for helping us organise the event.?If you want more of our events, then we are happy to tell you that you won’t have to wait too long.?
