Teams Rooms EMEA Monthly | October 2023 Issue
Welcome to the October 2023 edition of the Teams Rooms EMEA Monthly newsletter! Lots has happened in the last 2 months, yes 2 months (I was OOO for Sept, so this is a bumper edition)! Not just in #MicrosoftTeamsRooms, but across the #MicrosoftTeams platform. Not to mention everything coming up over the next few months with UCXPO & GiTEX. So here you go…
Top of Mind
A recurring topic of discussion revolves around the concept of choice. Within our expanding array of hardware options from various partners, there is a plethora of Microsoft Teams Rooms devices to consider. The challenge lies in selecting the most suitable one.
Initiating a conversation or embarking on an exploratory process with the customer to understand the purpose of their meeting spaces is pivotal. This approach goes beyond a mere allocation of X rooms for Y budget. Does this imply that the customer will derive less value from their investment? Not at all. Prioritizing the quantity of rooms within a budget often entails compromising the end-user experience, resulting in a suboptimal long-term outcome compared to implementing the right technology in the appropriate rooms from the outset.
This holds particularly true in the current landscape, given the rapid pace of advancements in AI-powered features and the continuous certification of intelligent hardware from our partners.
Another crucial decision confronting businesses today is whether to commit exclusively to Microsoft Teams Rooms or to keep options open with a USB/BYOD (bring-your-own-device) solution. Again, this decision hinges on understanding the purpose of the meeting spaces. If 80% of meetings are conducted through Teams, some clients opt for a widespread BYOD implementation to ensure support for the remaining 20%. However, this can negatively impact the 80% of meetings that would thrive with a native Microsoft Teams Rooms setup. Instead, why not ensure that 15-20% of rooms accommodate BYOD, while the rest provide a native Microsoft Teams Rooms experience? This approach offers the best of both worlds: an enhanced experience for the majority while still catering to other platforms for the remaining 20%.
Delving deeply into the utilization of meeting spaces and how technology can elevate inclusivity, collaboration, and employee satisfaction is paramount.
What's New in Microsoft Teams (August)
August was a huge month for #MicrosoftTeams updates. New features added to meetings and chat like animated backgrounds, the chat message hover menu, and enhancements to compact chat. For #MicrosoftTeamsPhone, along with a tonne of new features (too many to list here) there were certification updates from?Algo Communication Products Ltd ,?AudioCodes ,?Bang & Olufsen ,?EPOS ?and?Yealink .
For #MicrosoftTeamsRooms it was an even bigger month, according to?Greg Baribault , the biggest update of 2023. He is not wrong! All the AI powered "coming soon" features we have been talking about for months have landed for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows.
IntelliFrame is great at improving the experience for remote attendees, but it is even better at bringing to life Intelligent Meeting Recap. One step all users need to take is to complete Face Enrolment on Microsoft Teams Desktop. Once done, IntelliFrame will add your name to your frame when joining in a room with IntelliFrame enabled AND attribute notes and actions to you in Intelligent Meeting Recap. So cool!?Check out the deep dive on IntelliFrame here .
It doesn't stop there! It was also a big month for certifications.
What's New in Microsoft Teams (September)
Compared to the ENORMOUS number of updates from the previous month, it was always going to be tough for to compare. While there were plenty of?Microsoft Teams announcements ?like Webinar on-demand recording and shared calling for #MicrosoftTeamsPhones, I've only got short list of certification updates for you this month.
