#TeamFCG Takes Part in the 3FM Tour Du Ghana Para Cycling Climate Change Race, Saturday 18th of May
#TeamFCG Cycling Club, Ghana took part in this iconic event which focused on a movement for change with amateurs and pros all taking part in pedaling for climate change and promoting inclusive para cycling participation in an important initiative—there were twenty participants in total from Nigeria and Ghana.
Fenton was in Accra on the last leg of a business trip to lead and support his cycling team #TeamFCG and had six members taking part in the 190 km route, the first 70K being a Promotional/Neutral section and then 120k of tough racing with over 2000M of climbing in total. The route went from Accra to Kwahu near Kumasi, via Aburi. Fenton was delighted to get 2 top 10 places, 7th (Francis) and 10th (Myke) and everyone completed this tough event.
The team attested to enduring nearly 4 hours of tough roads and brutal climbs up to 24% in 30 degrees heat and 86% humidity. They were grateful for the support, food, and encouragement from the backup crew of #TeamFCG. They were also compensated by Ghana’s breathtaking landscapes, displaying the country’s natural beauty.
The aim of the race was to raise awareness about the urgency of climate action while fostering inclusivity in sports. This inclusion highlights the resilience and determination of athletes with all abilities. By breaking down barriers, the tour inspires others to embrace diversity and make a positive impact in their communities.
Well done to Francis Amu Broni, Naaba Michael and the entire #TeamFCG!
