Team Spotlight: Pia S.
Get to know Pia Shi, Brand Manager at SHOPLAZZA!
Why are you a brand manager?
They asked me that during my interview! Okay, so I really enjoy shopping, you could say that I’m a bit of a shopaholic. I also like to examine different brands and the marketing techniques they use on social media. I’m a heavy social media user, and I love finding new products for my friends. You could say that I like to engage in word-of-mouth marketing. And all of this is related to my job because discovering new trends and marketing techniques to help my clients get their products in front of the right people is what I do.?
Can you describe your position without using “product”, “client”, “brand”??
I prepared for this question. What I do is help people around me discover brand new stories and worlds, and support my discoveries with evidence.?

Can you describe a challenge you faced at work and how you resolved it??
The biggest challenge I face on a daily basis is helping clients see the importance of building a brand presence before thinking about moving units. Clients usually get into DTC and the first thing they think about is how many products they can sell, which is understandable. It’s my job to use data and cases involving well-known and niche brands to show our clients that there is an underlying logic to DTC which is about more than just selling products. I bridge the gap between our thinking by stepping into their perspective before helping them to see other possibilities for their brands.?
Could you share a couple of things that people may not know about you??
I love boxing, I’ve been boxing twice a week for a couple of years now. People look at boxing as a combat sport, but I see it as a mental exercise as well as a physical challenge. You’re constantly trying to read your opponent, feinting, baiting them to make a mistake. I love it. The other thing that people are often surprised about is the fact that I follow my sleep schedule religiously. I’m in bed by 10:30 PM every night, and I wake up between 7-8 AM on weekends. People don’t see me as someone who sleeps early, but it’s my key to success.
