Team Spotlight: Meet Betsy
Meet Betsy, Business Development Specialist at Shoplazza!
Why are you a Channel Development Representative?
I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with various outstanding small and medium-sized businesses in my relatively short career. They started out with admirable visions and the conviction to go as far as they can but, unfortunately, many of them don’t make it. I became a Channel Development Representative because I want to help deserving brands rise above the fray, by transferring knowledge and expertise, and that’s reason enough for me.
Can you describe your position without using “product”, “client”, “brand”??
I’m responsible for developing partners that can help get our solutions in front of the right clients so that more people can derive benefits from Shoplazza tools and services.? I help guide these partners to learn more about us and our clients’ needs, in order to produce continued growth. I also dig deep in terms of market trends, as well as client and partner needs to better communicate our values to those who stand to benefit the most.?

Can you describe a challenge you faced at work and how you overcame it?
The toughest thing is getting clients to admit that there are issues with their businesses. I’m best able to open them up by discussing things without expectations. I’ll set my professional identity aside and talk to them openly. Even if these conversations don’t necessarily relate to solutions we provide, I don’t mind taking the time to have these sometimes difficult talks because I derive self-confidence from helping clients resolve their issues. Discussing solutions and next steps is what really helps businesses grow.?
Can you name 3 sources of inspiration for you work that’s not related to your work?
Books are my absolute go-to. I tend to also gravitate towards series and games. I find period drama related to warfare particularly informative. Like they say, all’s fair in business and war. And the interesting thing is that wartime leaders make so many decisions, but victories are often determined by details that you have to discover for yourself by reading between the lines. TV shows and games are also useful for the narratives that they present. This makes me sound like a bit of a dork, I hope you don’t think I’m boring haha!?
What’s 1 (or 3) thing(s) that people may not know about you?
I love games based on American Westerns. You know what I’m talking about. I like these types of games because I love immersing myself in nature, woods, fields, and, really, spending time alone. Although these games tend to have violent resolutions, I have to admit that they capture my imagination in a way that other games don’t.?
