Team Member Spotlight: Sham Ramrattan
As we wrap up Truck Driver Appreciation Month, we're thrilled to bring you our final Energy Dispatch team member spotlight!
“This Job Keeps Me Going”
After nearly 20 years in management, Sham Ramrattan of Orlando, Florida, was looking for a different path. He completed driving school at Mid Florida Tech, got his Commercial Driver’s License and immediately began hauling produce, meat, frozen goods and ice cream all over the Southeast for grocery stores. But how he ended up moving fuel for Energy Dispatch was no accident. ?
“I wanted to find an organization that I could relate to,” says Ramrattan. “I wanted something local, and I wanted to work for a good company where I would find opportunities for advancement. I did my research.” ?
Ramrattan even spoke to other drivers he knew who’d made the change. After hearing their feedback, he applied with Energy Dispatch and was hired in August of 2022. Since then, he’s absorbed and lived the RaceTrac Way every day. In fact, he was recently promoted to trainer just after his one-year anniversary with the company. ?
“When I think about our core values as a company, I think about Sham,” says Montrice Rawls, supervisor for the Orlando, Port Everglades and Cape Canaveral markets. “His work ethic is amazing; he shows leadership skills and is very reliable.” ?
Rawls notes Ramrattan’s “always positive” attitude as a unique and defining characteristic. For an often-demanding profession, Rawls claims he’s never heard a single negative word from him. He admits it’s a little “weird.” ?
“Sham just wants to learn, and he wants to help,” added Rawls. “Not once has he turned down an extra shift or an opportunity to help others.” ?

For Ramrattan, driving isn’t a particularly high-stress job, and he describes his truck cabin as a “huge window to my personal office.” He enjoys the active lifestyle and constantly being on the move. In a completely unprovoked quote regarding his daily work, Ramrattan says: “This job keeps me going.” ?
Outside the confines of his cab, Ramrattan’s personal life is just as on-the-go as his workdays. A self-professed “gym rat,” he splits his personal time between workouts and his family. They can often be found visiting parks or attending church whenever they can. ?
“Family is most important,” adds Ramrattan. ?
When he’s on the go, Ramrattan loves RaceTrac’s Crazy Good Coffee (black, no sugar or cream) or any zero-sugar energy drink from the cooler. And being the health nut he is, he generally grabs fresh fruit like mango slices for snacking. ?
And if he had the chance, Ramrattan would continue that on-the-go hustle by traveling with his family whenever he can find the opportunity. Europe, Yellowstone Park, Washington, D.C. and Hawaii are just a few of the places on his bucket list. ?
It probably comes as no surprise to his co-workers that if he could have any superpower, Ramrattan would choose the power to heal others. ?
“When I wear my Energy Dispatch uniform, I not only represent this organization, but I also represent the next person wearing this uniform,” says Ramrattan. “I love working for RaceTrac and being able to provide for my family.”
