I remember back then when I started my journey as an employee and a team member. As my story in my last article, I shared about my journey when I start my professional career. I was seeking someone that can lead me sincerely and honestly. I truly believe to achieve the best version of myself, I need someone who can correct me when I'm wrong and think with me to find the solution to achieve our goals. I thank God because I found this person and it shapes me as a caring person when it comes to leading my team.
Currently, I have a responsibility to lead a team that consists of two beautiful souls. I see how they learn and try their best to give the best result to achieve our goal. As people may know, working in the real estate industry, especially you are in the Business Development team is something that brings so much pressure when it comes to "Target". I know it will happen, even how hard I try to do not push the team but I must do it.
To do these certain things it needs some courage to achieve the goal while still fill the development of each person. Then I tried to be a good friend to them, a friend who will celebrate their success, go down with them when it hard to hit the target, correct them and evaluate the strategy when it doesn't work, and support each other when the pressure bring us down.
I realize, to be a great team we need to put aside the ego of who's get the highest salary, who has the biggest responsibility, and who is achieved the highest result. We need to go together as a team, when someone can't find a way then the others help to find the way or be the way.
How we can grow the tree if we just told the tree to grow, we need water, sun, and a persons to take care of the tree. We need to make a connection between ourselves with the tree, so we can own the tree, we wouldn't feel right when we're not watering enough, manage the time of the tree to be under the sun and etc.
There's no industry that has a purpose to bring their people down and go without development, but the action of the people inside the team are. Now it's time, ask your team if they're OK, make sure they have something to eat because their work might push them to spend money on petrol, so they can't allocate the rest for their own foods. Understand their struggles, see their dream, and try to start small meaningful conversations.
