Team dynamics and Joint Family

Team Dynamics are the unconscious, psychological forces which develop the team behavior and the style a team adapts with the environment it is in . It also develops the personalities within the team , and also their styles which gives us the input to the leadership style the team adapt .

While going through this, today morning this interesting topic popped in my mind which triggered the thought, that when we are connected to each other , with trust and belief on the relationship probably the skills of team management and team style are not required to be learnt. It comes automatically .

When I was a kid, I was a part of joint family where my grand mom used to handle the decisions of anything happening in the family. All of my aunts, uncle, father and mother they used to listen to it . We siblings were too young to understand the influence of the same , but one single question: " Parents are bigger than us , then why should they listen to dadi?" Only an answer, we trust and respect her decisions . Such an unconsciously driven practice.

Sharing in the joint family, and an equal distribution of whatever used to be there is a beautiful learning which I acquired .Sharing used to come natural, and we never used to think and force our thoughts into it .Birthdays were picnics , where the celebrations were all proposed and our elders used to take up one each idea of all of us and execute them , so that none of us were left out . And if left then we had the liberty to ask the reason and the elders carried the responsibility to give proper logical responses .

Trust , belief, ownership, accountability of both bad and good --- someway we learnt unconsciously . So actually what do we mean by TEAM then . Does it really need so much of books to learn or to lead. Team management is family management , team needs emotions, bonding,sacrifice, initiatives, decisions, empathy etc. and so does our family also have this ,if we practice the same , while making and retaining a team, the unconscious efforts of dynamics will show real life results.

I have gone through this article and completely agree with your thoughts. Though this is an old article, this is relevant these days as well. I can relate with this because I also come from a joint family and know its importance. Team management is family management and every leader should know how to create a healthy environment within team.
