Teamwork makes the dream work. It's a valid saying, but it doesn’t always apply. It’s all very well making the decision to improve teamwork but one has to define what the improvement should look like first. One cannot simply decide to improve the teamwork for the sake of improvement alone. The entire team should clearly be defining the goal they are working together to accomplish. This is paramount. All companies try to achieve sales or growth goals, create better employee performance or find ways to better serve their customer base. Once the “what” has been established, one can focus on working as a team to achieve these goals. Soccer is often referred to as the “beautiful game.” It can serve as a metaphor for the importance of teamwork. The most successful soccer teams are aware of the importance of interdependency. This constant trust and collaboration displayed by team players mirrors the action required in businesses. Each player has access to the playing field and can see exactly what is going on in the game but they each have their distinct role and are willing to overlap into another role if needed. The best way for a company to achieve its goals is to understand how teams collaborate most effectively by placing individuals in the roles that are best suited to them.?

This is clearly demonstrated in the invoice cycle in an organisation where there are many functions and roles played by different people. This essentially requires team collaboration in order to contribute to the end goal:

? Sales people take orders, maintain customers and review spending patterns

? Warehouse staff pick the stock and prepare for dispatch with the PODs

? Financial controllers raise the invoice, and once good are delivered they need to follow up on collections or deal with queries to make sure the accounts are paid on time

? Financial Managers want to review the company at a high level view (turnover, KPIs, spending patterns, analyse the health of the business)?

In today’s times a well-organised team can make the difference. Dealing with huge amounts of data, all team members need to have access to the playing field in order to make the best decisions for the company.?

By using agile account management software one can exponentially enhance a company’s account management capabilities and manage customer queries more effectively.

One can also make more informed decisions with powerful account analytics and reduce payment delays with live monitoring of customer account trends.

This means that the sales people, warehouse staff, financial controllers and decision makers can all be the best that they can be, if given a platform which ensures their collaboration.
