Team Coaching training from Cats.

As a Team Coach it’s important to be aware of how Teams interact, how individuals work 1:1 versus small Teams versus Large Teams in order to maximise performance.?

It’s important to be observant and to be able to pickup on small changes in Body language and facial expressions as this can help decipher what happening in the room, observe what is NOT being said and be aware of what impacts the team.

If you are a cat lover you will be aware of how ear twitches, tail position, posture, cat noises when studied enable you to communicate without words and this learning can be put to use in The Coaching setting.

See a few Learnings from living with cats below

1. Boundaries are important to cats and it’s important to remember this when in a cats company
2. Trust must be earned, they will show great loyalty and affection when they know you’ve got their back?
3. Communication can take many forms with cats and learning how each individual cat communicates can help you ascertain their needs much better?
4. Cats have many different skills, they are not all the same and it’s important to remember this, I have a cat called Elle who after 2 years of trying to use the cat flap has never quite mastered it, whilst Zoro has figured out how to pick the lock ?? ( I kid you not !)
5. Engagement from cats is different across a cat group also, some are lively and want to be part of the action, others like to watch from afar and maybe join in when there is less noise?

If you look at these few simple points I have learned from being OWNED ( notice I did not say Cat Owner) by cats for many years you will see how this was great training for my Team Coaching practice.?

BOUNDARIES, TRUST , COMMUNICATION?and??DIFFERENT STYLES are important if you are going to share your space with a cat and it’s not very different in a Team Coaching environment.

Team Coaching

1. The first thing we do in a Team Coaching session is agree a CHARTER, a way of working together, Boundary setting.
2. We pay close attention to Communication styles so everyone is heard and has their say?
3. We build Trust so the group feel comfortable sharing and we ensure confidentiality?
4. Everyone brings something unique to the table their is no such thing as One Way
5. We encourage on the spot discussion, reflective discussion, the ability to bring something up in a new session from previous session as everyone engages differently.

?We learn things from all aspects of our lives that we can bring into our daily and work lives, I count myself Lucky to have been trained by the best.
