Nowadays, being a team player is a very important trait; actually, it is a requirement. It is almost guaranteed that one will receive a behavioral question related to teamwork during the interview . Depending on your project, the following are great diverse assets to have among your team:
1. The technical, not necessarily a subject matter expert.
2. The communicator, powerpoint wizard.
3. The visionary, mad scientist.
4. The optimist, grants all the benefit of the doubt; one love attitude.
5. The pessimist, all about budget & schedule; life is 0s & 1s.
6. The challenger, question everything, challenge every process.
7. The mundane task(s) volunteer
8. The experienced, seen it all, the historian
You, the project manager or manager who understand his/her team’s strengths and weaknesses and assign appropriate tasks based on character.

7 年Ahmed Mousa, you are well on point with the team members. I would add to the project manager's responsibilities the roles of Mentor, Coach, Counselor, Motivator, and Facilitator. You can have a great group of people, but they each will have their own methods and personalities. There will be times of conflict, low motivation, and turnover. Project managers need to be proactive and approachable so that these and other issues don't become a distraction from the tasks at hand. My favorite analogy of for a project manager is an orchestra conductor. The conductor knows the composition, the strengths and weaknesses of each member, and is responsible for keeping everyone on tempo and the same sheet of music.
