TEADIT? 2236 – Fugitive Emissions CASE HISTORY
APPLICATION
Hydrocarbons
High Temperature and High Pressure
SCENARIO
A large petrochemical refiner came to Teadit seeking help with valves in their plant that were putting out high levels of fugitive emissions. As Teadit specializes in products that assist in reducing fugitive emissions, the refiner reached out to us for a solution. They had 25,000 critical valves that were affected. They were experiencing an estimated 800 tons of hydrocarbon emissions per year. With 12,500 manual valves responsible for an estimated 500 tons of that total.
SOLUTION
Teadit performed an analysis of the situation and was able to propose a solution that would cut down on 95% of these emissions. Having the refiner switch these valves to using our Teadit Style 2236 packing would better help control the leakage of hydrocarbons they had been experiencing. It was agreed that 92 manual valves, with emissions of around 2.36 tons per year, were to be selected for testing of the proposed solution from Teadit.
CUSTOMER GAINS
Once completed, the tests were proven to be extremely successful, and the trial alone had already brought forth savings of over $3000. Based on the overall results, it was decided that the refiner would use Teadit’s Style 2236 valve packing on all manual valves in the plant. This meant that the 12,500 manual valves in the refinery would be converted to Teadit’s Style 2236 packing and provide savings of over $450,000 annually for the plant.
