So, parents are requested to share this newsletter with their kids and help them to boost up their exam preparation.

I call this newsletter?One2One (1-2-1), where I'll be sharing;

  • 1 Smart Parenting Pro-Tip
  • 2 Productivity Hacks
  • 1 Story to share and discuss with your kids

So without further ado, let's begin with today's Smart Parenting Tip.

1 Smart Parenting Pro-Tip: Teaching your Kids about Money is never about Money?

This is how I made his 15-year-old son understand money.

One day, rather than spend his time playing games or binge-watch Netflix, I gave him his copy of Rich Dad, Poor Dad (written by Robert Kiyosaki) and asked him to give it a try. Now, till that day, he had never read a non-fiction book so it was a gamble.

To my surprise he finished that book in a week! He was genuinely interested and of course, the endless questions followed all through their morning walks.

Few days later, his son came up to me wanting to invest in mutual funds. Beaming like a proud parent, I happily explained it to him, and after some research he decided to invest Rs. 500 from his pocket money in Systematic Investment Plan. And now he saves every month from his pocket and has understand the value of even a small penny.

This was way more than he had expected!

From his experience, I realized that small or big, as parents we have to take steps to invest in the growth of our child. Sometimes your attempt may backfire but eventually you will be able to find a method to deploy the energies of your child in the right direction.

And when one day they decide to take steps on their own, oh what a joy to watch them!

What have you done as a parent to imbibe this habit in your children?

This above snippet has been taken from my new book-?'How to raise a Topper'

2 Productivity hacks (That actually works)

  • Never forget to reward yourself for the work you do. This will motivate you to work more and give a feeling of self-satisfaction. Start Monitoring your Screen time- When you start monitoring the screen time, this will bring to your attention the amount of time that you spend before screens. You will be shocked when you see your screen time. You can also see the screen time of different apps and see which app is consuming how much time.
  • Turn off the notification- Every time your cell phone buzzes, there’s a notification and all of a sudden, your focus from study shifts to the cell phone. So it’s better to turn off the notification alerts of different apps like Whatsapp, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc.

1 story for your child: ?Importance of Struggle

A boy named Raj was upset because he had done poorly in his English test. He was sitting in his room when his grandmother came and comforted him. His grandmother sat beside him and gave him a pencil. Raj looked at his grandma puzzled, and said he didn’t deserve a pencil after his performance in the test.

His grandma explained, “You can learn many things from this pencil because it is just like you. It experiences a painful sharpening, just the way you have experienced the pain of not doing well on your test. However, it will help you be a better student.

?Just as all the good that comes from the pencil is from within itself, you will also find the strength to overcome this hurdle.?And finally, just as this?pencil will make its mark on any surface, you too shall leave your mark on anything you choose to.” Raj was immediately consoled and promised himself that he would do better.

Morals-

  • The example of?the?Raju’s?story?highlights?the?importance?of struggle in life. You have no other option but to struggle to reach your goal.
  • Some students when stuck with problem-solving, immediately check the solution mentioned towards the end of the chapter/book because they are not willing to work hard.
  • So what happens is such students get stuck in the same question again when they are to solve it later. While there are a few other students who struggle with???difficult???questions???for???hours. In the process, they develop their problem-solving skills and take their preparation to the next level.
  • Such a struggle is helpful for brain growth and is important if you are to achieve something. If you are not struggling, you are not learning.
