A Teacher's Guide to Enhance your Teaching Efficiency

Teaching is one of the most enlightening jobs that a person can ever do. It is not a recitation of a lesson in front of some students, it is about the transmission of knowledge as well as morals.

Teaching comprises a lot of essential elements that need to be taken into consideration, and that's why this article is going to pinpoint the most important phases of the teaching process.

Many books state that we should start by planning the lesson; however, others mention that a teacher should start by assessing the needs and capabilities of the students first before creating the lesson plan. Starting your preparation phase by assessing your students’ prior knowledge and weaknesses is essential because you will be able to design your lesson plan properly and work on effectively enhancing their abilities.

Second, you need to create a plan that best suits your students’ cognitive abilities

and matches their previous knowledge of the topic. Hence, you should design

your plan with precision in order to assess their points of strength and weakness,

and work on the latter. Additionally, your lesson plan should be tailored effectively to your students’ academic needs and your session time as well, so you should always design your lesson according to the timing of the session adequately.

After the planning phase comes the delivery of your lesson. The delivery phase is the step where

you present your lesson in an informative, engaging and entertaining manner. As we all know, students can lose their attention during the session easily if it does not encompass any activities. Therefore, you need to employ interesting activities in your lesson plan in order to improve your lesson and regain your students' attention at any moment. For example, you can add an activity that requires changing their seats and engaging with different classmates in order to renew their energy.
