Teachers Explore Tech Sites to Foster Student Futures
On October 9th, 2023, Curvature had the distinct honor of being chosen as one of the tech campuses to showcase an upcoming program in the County of Santa Barbara, California.?We were thrilled to open our doors to a group of 47 individuals, consisting mostly of teachers, with a few administrators, superintendents, and board members as well. This was a first-time CTE (Career and Technical Education) event, where educators had the opportunity to visit and tour companies for their In-Service Education Day, and we were delighted to be a part of this groundbreaking initiative.?
?
The purpose of this CTE initiative was born out of two major issues currently facing our communities.?Firstly, educators are noticing a need to bring business development into the classroom to prepare students for various careers and industry jobs before they graduate from high school. And secondly, companies in the Santa Barbara area are wanting to hire talented resources, but the cost of living deters this talent from deciding to join the work force and stay in our community. This program can play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between primary education and professional development within the tech industry. Companies that are ready to invest in and train participants will not only harness a valuable source of talent, but also contribute to the growth of industries and organizations.
Although this may initially appear as a lengthy workforce development process, at Curvature, we ourselves have found that many of the resources that we invest in go on to grow and stay with our organization longer. This unique partnership fosters a natural bond between the employee and the company, and we have found many of our own employees are loyal and grateful for the opportunity to grow with our organization.?We believe the CTE program is just the beginning of great things to come for our Santa Barbara community.?

This grassroots initiative began when the principal of Carpinteria High School approached the South Coast Chamber, seeking opportunities to get in touch with various companies. The goal was to enable school staff to visit business campuses, offering them firsthand insights into how local organizations can actively contribute to student education.?We anticipate that this endeavor will play a pivotal role in fostering a connection between our developing workforce and the community, inspiring students to embark on careers in technology.
