Teach to Learn

Today - on September 5th - we celebrate Teacher's Day in India.
It's an opportunity for us to remember all the teachers, mentors, coaches and gurus who made a difference in our lives.
I want to introduce you to a teacher you didn't know existed.
To meet him/ her, just look at the mirror.
Yes, we all have a teacher hidden inside us.
Let me explain: If you want to master something, teach it to others.
But most of us feel that we have to master a subject before we attempt to teach it to other.
The reality is that the best way to master anything is to share whatever you know about the subject with others. The more you share/ teach others whatever you know, the more proficient you will become in it. ( Don't let others tell you anything otherwise.)
I should know.

Shortly after I was introduced to NeuroLinguistic Programming in the late Nineties, I started conducting informal discussions , sharing whatever i knew about NLP with others.
I got better at understand and using many of the NLP models and my confidence grew. I got rid of my allergy, learnt to develop instant rapport in my training sessions.
later in the early 2000s, I went on to do my Practitioner and Master Practitioner certifications.
But the greatest learnings I had was not in just attending the certification workshops, but in sharing/teaching others what i knew.
Dont let your anything stop you from trying to teach others.
The usual approach is : Learn --> Get better -->Teach
The better approach is : Learn --> Teach --> Get better
Go ahead, speak about what you know, teach others.
And become a master!
