HIGHLIGHTS

  • The idea of the community as the very purpose of an enterprise’s existence is the north star that guides TCS’ belief in sustainability.
  • It continues to inspire our purpose-led growth strategy, which helps us put people and the planet at the center of all that we do.?
  • Naturally, sustainability is not just a growth strategy for us, it is intrinsic to the TCS way of life, of doing business, of helping clients achieve their sustainability goals in a digital world.

BUILDING SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

At Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), sustainability is a fundamental part of the company's growth strategy, as it is embedded in the company's way of life and business model. This is especially important in the current climate, where climate change is changing the way we live and work. To help clients reach their sustainability goals, TCS leverages its expertise in this area. This belief in sustainability is based on the idea that the community is the primary reason for an enterprise's existence and is at the heart of TCS' purpose-driven growth strategy.

FOR THE PLANET

TCS has always strived to lead the way on sustainable development. Our chief sustainability objective is to reduce carbon footprint by 70% by the year 2025 (over 2016 levels) and to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030.

With 67% of our emissions targets already met, we have shown that you can grow your business without increasing your carbon footprint and do your bit for people and the planet.

TCS own carbon reduction initiatives have resulted in in-house innovations like TCS'CleverTM and our IoT based Remote Energy Management System, which have been developed for our own needs and are now helping our clients meet their emissions targets.

Other resource groups include Reduce freshwater consumption Zero waste disposal Zero discharge TCS optimizes water consumption through: Conservation of water; Sewage treatment and reuse; and Rainwater harvesting. Recycling: By 2025, we aim to have 100% recyclable waste. Eliminate single-use plastic from our campuses.

FOR THE PEOPLE

TCS is all about our people and how diverse our global team is. It's no wonder why Top Employers Institute in Amsterdam named TCS the best global employer for the 6th year in a row in 2021.

TCS has so far enabled remote working for 95% of its workforce and established cloud-based governance of over 23,000 projects, enabling high volumes of digital collaboration – 35,000 online meetings, 406,000 calls, and over 3 million messages.

The clear advantages of SBWS? so far have led TCS to announce the 25 by 25 vision – by 2025, only 25% of TCS workforce will work out of TCS facilities at any time, with associates spending only 25% of their time in the office. And within project teams, only 25% of employees can be co-located.

The velocity throughput is expected to increase by 25% as a result of this change. However, there are also clear long-term advantages, such as organizations being able to offer more equal job opportunities, which will have a positive effect on the company and society as a whole.

TCS is a firm believer in the power of technology to empower individuals and societies. One of the most influential programs undertaken by TCS is the "BridgeIT" program, which was designed to bridge the digital divide within rural India, particularly for disadvantaged communities. Currently, the program is operational in nine states, equipping young people with digital resources and encouraging them to develop into entrepreneurs who offer online services to their communities. To further this mission, TCS runs a variety of programs to foster a culture of technology-oriented entrepreneurship, creativity, and collaboration among the youth. These programs, such as Digital Impact Square and Leaders With Purpose in India, as well as sustainability-focused initiatives around the world, demonstrate the company's commitment to this cause.
