TC's Gross qualifies for elite competition

Truck Country’s Will Gross will compete among some of the top technicians in July when he takes part in Daimler Trucks North America’s annual Technician Skills Competition.

Gross, who has been a member of the TC-Dubuque team since November 2004, earned one of 12 spots in the competition. Nearly 1,500 technicians from across Freightliner and Western Star dealerships and Detroit distributors in the U.S. and Canada attempted to qualify by taking a written exam.

Techs will compete in one of two categories, vehicle (chassis) and engine classes. Gross will take part in the vehicle (chassis) class.

Gross is a three-time winner of the inner-company Top Tech competition, claiming first place in 2016, 2019, and 2020-2021. He also has a third-place finish to his credit and has won the written component of the contest twice.

With his wife, Danielle, he has two sons with another child set to arrive later this summer. Away from work, he enjoys being outdoors, working on home-improvement projects and woodworking.
