TCAE-L-7 1440 Alignment Eliminator?Shaft Coupling
Proposal prepared for agitator pulper – Indonesia
Thompson Couplings Ltd (Australia) have been requested to propose an installation of their alignment eliminator shaft coupling for a large slurry pump in Indonesia.
?An inspection and detailed analysis of the proposed installation shows the pump is driven via a pair of gear couplings interconnected with a long spacer tube (length 1440mm).
?Thompson Couplings have previously demonstrated the efficiency and reliability of their Alignment Eliminator? coupling in terms of maintenance and installation improvements and wish to extend this drive to other applications.
Alignment Eliminator?
?Traditional shaft couplings, while having slight to minor flexibility, usually require specialist alignment methods upon installation to provide maximum efficiency and life of the device. These alignment methods (such as laser alignment) are time-consuming and expensive and often disruptive to production as the shafts have to be stationary to perform the alignment.
?The Thompson Couplings Alignment Eliminator ? coupling (TCAE) is a fully flexible shaft coupling capable of operating with angles of misalignment from 1° to 10° between the drive and driven shafts. This eliminates the need for accurate and expensive laser alignment techniques, for instance, upon installation. Furthermore, the coupling allows relative movement of the motor such as from heat expansion or in soft foot mount conditions.
TCAE-L-7 shaft coupling configuration:
Design operating angle: 1 - 5 degrees per head (10 degs total) Operation Speed: 0 – 1485 rpm nominal
