• Where do they live? How accessible is their residence, and what types of crime are common in the area?
• What kinds of attacks are they most vulnerable to? Ransom? Physical? Kidnapping? Cyber-hacking?
• Do they have a spouse, partner, and/or children?

Plan Commitment

Many VIPS are unhappy when their company requires them to have personal security services. They might feel like their privacy is being invaded—scrutinizing their home life, work routine, and even their mundane activities. Plus, there's often this belief that "it can’t happen to me," as Peter Franklin from TAL Global puts it. "But it can happen. Many key figures have been targeted, harmed, or kidnapped over the years."

Proper Implementation

Many top VIPs bristle when they learn they need protection. This frustration often grows when they encounter the strict rules they must follow. On top of that, it’s human nature to look for exceptions to these rules, sneaking out for an ice cream run with the kids or going for a late night gym session, but that’s when things are most likely to go wrong. Consistent execution of the protocols is important for effective protection.

For instance:

• Strict adherence to when and how they travel.
• Planning activities like when or where they can go jogging, golfing, out to dinner, or getting a haircut.
• If they drive, the car must be secured. This includes checking anyone who services, cleans, or travels in the car, as well as where it’s parked, to ensure it hasn’t been compromised.
• Security personnel may accompany the VIP on all family outings and activities.
• Ensuring that any public appearances or events are vetted and coordinated in advance to prevent unplanned risks or disruptions.
