Taxi Driver Reflection

CeCe and I have jumped into a taxi in Las Vegas to ride down to the Wynn and have lunch with some friends.?We are excited about seeing this property as it is one of the most elegant in Las Vegas. CeCe can spend some serious time looking at all the landscaping and flower arrangements.
We are chatting about our afternoon when our taxi driver asks us some questions, including how long we have been married. He then proposes that he ask each of us a couple of questions.??
So he asked CeCe what was the thing about Joey that she loved the most.?She quickly responded, “Well, that is hard to say.”? My heart sank.? Then she went on to say there were lots of things she loved about me. Now I’m smiling.?Generous and supportive were what we heard after what seemed like 30 minutes.?
He then asked me the same question about CeCe.?Now, I knew this might be where he was headed but I froze too. I wanted to really think through what I love about her and what is the one thing, I love the most.?With CeCe staring at me, sweat breaking out on my forehead, I sorted through it all and landed somewhere that I had not anticipated.?Loyalty.?When CeCe is on your side, no matter what, she is loyal. I have seen her take up for me, her friends, her Mom, her family.??
As I thought it over, I realized it was something I admired and that I counted on for confidence and support.?Whether it was business, a family dispute, or a bad fishing day, she is always on my side, completely loyal even if she has shared I might be wrong.??
Now for our leadership lesson, and there are two.?Don’t get in the cab with this guy unless you are prepared for marriage counseling.?On a serious note, I realized that I have not shared with CeCe enough the reasons why I love her so much. I say it, but I haven’t been focused on the “why” enough.?
This applies to every relationship, business and friend.?If we shared more about why we respected them and appreciated them, we would be better connected, have stronger relationships and more joy in our lives.?
THE REST OF THE STORY
CeCe:?? Why did it take you so long to say what you love the most about me?
Me:?? I wanted to make sure I thought about it and chose the one thing that I love the most.? I love lots of things about you.?
CeCe:? Ha, you might want to be thinking about a few more…
