Tax Help when you need it
I know that this time of year can be overwhelming, especially this year, with the impact of COVID-19 restrictions. We know that for most people tax and super isn’t something that you deal with every day. That’s where our Tax Help program comes in!
Tax Help is a free and confidential program. If you or someone you know earnt $60,000 or less in salary or wages last financial year with simple tax affairs, the program is a great way to get some extra help when preparing and lodging your tax return online. They can also help you create a myGov account and link it to the ATO. There are a couple of other criteria you have to meet before we can help, so I’d recommend checking out our website before you get started.
We also know that this year is a little bit different to others, with lots of people in our community in lockdown or keeping their distance from others due to COVID-19 restrictions. Luckily, our network of volunteers can give you a hand online, over the phone, or, in person at one of our Tax Help centres located across the country (where possible). No matter which option works best for you, you can make an appointment by calling 13 28 61.
The program wouldn’t be possible without our great network of ATO-trained community volunteers, who do a fantastic job guiding people through the online lodgment process.

In case you’re still wondering whether our Tax Help program is right for you, I also have some feedback from one of our clients to share with you:
‘A heartfelt thank you for your simplicity, ease of dialogue and the understanding you displayed to me today…The volunteer job you do is fantastic and for me, the completion of a tax return seemed so daunting…but it was actually a breeze, only possible by your generous assistance.’
The Tax Help program also supports Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, providing support and assistance in many community languages.
Remember, the program only runs to 31 October. To find out more about the Tax Help program and check your eligibility, visit www.ato.gov.au/taxhelp
