Tax Breaks and Defunding - Defund the Universities, Seminaries, Unions, Athletics, and More

In a recent analysis a few weeks ago, I was the first to suggest that the defund dialog will expand quickly. In that expansion, some socialists and Marxists will soon be asking for the following:

• Defund Charity
• Defund Churches, Priests and Bishops
• Defund Unions
• Defund Universities
• Defund Seminaries.
• Defund Hollywood
• Defund Endowments
• Defund Politicians
• Defund Athletics
• Defund Tax Breaks for Professional Sports.
• Defund anyone religions or academic who is getting tax breaks for their rich salaries and pensions.

As a long-time law professor, ethics professor, historian and political scientist, my point was that the revolutionary mindset wants change at the expense of tearing down all existing structures.

With COVID-19 and other pandemic issues and historical bigotry from institutions such as universities and unions, the revolutionary will end up demanding that all government funds be removed, all fat pensions be defunded, and many institutions be torn down as archaic and discriminatory.

With COVID-19, now some online education and degrees are available for free. People will begin to wonder how a subsidized liberal arts college in Boston can charge $300,000 dollars for a bachelors degree where most of the students are using taxpayer dollars to pay the fees, costs, and salaries of academia.

As a futurist, we must always remember that discussions and protests can lead to an examination of the truth, history and the mistakes of the past. Sadly, this debate will expose former politicians, bishops, leaders and even unions for horrible mistakes and failures to innovate the nation.
