A Taste of Nostalgia

If you know you know, my dad makes the best breakfast in the entire world. There is a reason why I love breakfast and I can thank him! Items on the menu range from, biscuits made from scratch, french toast and the best of all, waffles. 

Mornings over the weekend were always the best because my siblings and I knew we would wake up to a delicious aroma in our rooms from breakfast downstairs. I have two other siblings and we were all very involved in sports and school activities, consuming up so much of our free time. Therefore, breakfast with my siblings on the weekend was a time we could all sit down together, these are times I will always cherish. 

Breakfast would always start with a warm cup of overly sweet coffee prepared by my dad - I can easily thank him for my obsession with coffee. We all had our mini traditions when it came to my dad's waffles. My sister would have three saucers, one with syrup, one with blueberry syrup and the other with the homemade whipped cream. She would take each piece and dip in each saucer then make a sandwich between the three pieces and voila! She really had it down to a science. My brother stuck to eating at least three waffles in one sitting and I strictly ate my waffle with whipped cream, no syrup or anything. I always loved when I had friends over so they could experience the best waffles ever. I had one friend that would always come over before school when she found out my dad was making waffles.

To this day, each time I go home I always put in a special request for my dad’s waffles or any kind of breakfast prepared by him. Different types of food can make people reminisce on old memories and this is one of mine. No other waffle will ever top my dads, and the memories and traditions around breakfast with my siblings will be memories I will always hold close to my heart.
