Tasoula Hadjitofi: The Icon Hunter

Tasoula Hadjitofi: The Icon Hunter

This Friday, July 20, marks the 44th anniversary of first of two Turkish invasions of Cyprus in the summer of 1974 that has left the island still divided. CLICK TO LISTEN to my interview with author Tasoula Hadjitofi about her book The Icon Hunter and her quest as a refugee to reclaim her nation’s stolen heritage. “As a girl growing up in Cyprus, I never imagined I’d learn as much as I have about the inner workings of art trafficking,” says Hadjitofi. Despite suffering from war and cultural cleansing, Hadjitofi has campaigned for more than 30 years to preserve cultural heritage worldwide. https://www.wallstreetnorth.com/2018/06/tasoula-hadjitofi-the-icon-hunter/

Just ordered it for my mother in law who? was a history teacher in the NYC school system in the 1960s...just as the curriculum was intentionally "dumbed down". Meaningful history will never be taught again in US public schools.?
