If tarot cards could speak

If tarot cards could speak

Hello, friends! I must confess that you are finding me in a fog of jetlag. That said, I still wanted to meet my personal goal of writing every week, so here we go!

This week, I wanted to give a nod to the influx of requests I've received for live tarot readings for meetup groups and organizations. Let's take a moment to spotlight some important lessons from my favorite tarot cards.

The Fool is the first card in the Major Arcana. He represents new beginnings. He also reminds us that there is more joy in learning as you go than in sitting still because you are afraid to make a wrong move. The Fool beckons us toward the edge of curiosity. He whispers to our fears, "You look more like a fool when you don't try at all. Jump into the deep end, and you'll find a whole new world of opportunities."

The Tower shocks us back to life. It reminds us to be vigilant about the people and environments we put into the backdrop of our lives. It asks us if we have noticed signs of imbalance, dysfunction and betrayal. Many people fear The Tower but I like to remind my tarot clients that The Tower is looking out for us. It is the cautionary siren that sings out to us, challenging us to consider "If you find yourself falling out of the window, how can you make sure you land on your feet and not on your head? Don't fill your head and heart with shame and embarrassment; instead, focus on coping mechanisms and self-preservation strategies."

The Moon acknowledges that sometimes life is full of hazy mysteries and unknowns. It doesn't overpromise or gaslight you into thinking every solution will be given to you, but it keeps it real with you. The Moon nods its head and says, "Yes, things are stranger than you would have wanted them to be. You are feeling stuck or impatient, but have a deeper sense of faith that all things will be resolved in due time."

The Nine of Pentacles is my "Beyonce Single Ladies Card." She reminds you to prioritize your needs and relish in the glory of your beauty, independence and talent. She invites you to dance with her and tells you her secret, "Remember that everything and everyone else in your life is just surplus. It's added value to the abundance you have generated over time. Never let anything or anyone delude you into thinking that they own you or that they have power over you or your assets. You are your own natural resource. Give yourself the ring and the crown; don't wait for anyone to define your worth."

Can't get enough of tarot?

If you want to learn more about the history of tarot, you can find an old webinar I gave on the history of tarot design with AIGA Design and Lee-Sean Huang .

+ Don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like to book a tarot reading or reiki healing session. You can also use my Contact page if you'd like to invite me to participate in a team retreat, live event activation, etc. I've done my fair share of group readings for organizations and private parties. They are a joy!

On your way out

Lastly, I wanted to give you some quick updates:

  • I launched my Board Room business bootcamp earlier this week. Our spring cohort enjoyed meeting each other and learning about one another's unique small business services and goals. We will be focusing on building confidence in public speaking and brand storytelling over the next quarter.
  • Save the date for August 5th! I will be officially launching my first Phim's Oasis holistic healing retreat in DC later this summer with my friends at Teaism (s/o to Ariana Rodriguez-Gitler , whose LLC has signed on to be a strategic planning partner for this retreat). If you are curious and want to learn more, you can take a sneak peek at the soft launch landing page here (PW: onceuponatime). More from me soon. (;
