Tarnia Payne: Winner of the 2022 Excellence Award

Tarnia Payne, recent recipient of our Excellence Award, has been working with Hearing Australia for 34 years. She’s worked in all aspects of audiology, having previously held roles as both paediatric and adult specialists at different times. With an ongoing passion for helping out hearing impaired communities, she strives to lead the next generation of audiologists to develop their own career path.?

Currently, Tarnia works as a hearing centre manager across three teams. Therefore, no day is the same, as she’s split between the three locations. She likes to check-in with her teams daily to ensure they have what they need to make their day run as smoothly as possible. Some of her additional daily duties include answering questions, jumping to fill gaps for unexpected leave and attending meetings with peers. She particularly enjoys the contact with customers, hearing their stories and helping them along their hearing journey.?

Tarnia feels fortunate to have been able to work with so many different people in different locations, both within Australia and overseas. She emphasises how inspiring it is to meet and work with like-minded people, and how promoting hearing health care motivates her every day.?

Tarnia believes Hearing Australia is made up of wonderful people who work hard to provide an excellent service to our hearing impaired community and their support people.

When asked what receiving an excellence award meant to her, she expressed her gratitude and shared how amazed and humbled she was to be recognised in this way.?
