Tarku Resources – Acquires Dana Nickel-Copper Project

Tarku Resources Ltd (TSX.V:TKU | FRA:7TK | OTCQB:TRKUF) has announced the acquisition of the Dana Nickel-Copper-Cobalt-PGE Project, located in Quebec. Tarku staked these titles to follow up on a series of historic nickel-copper showings and associated EM anomalies.

The Dana Project is located near Lake Manitou in C?te-Nord, Quebec and straddles the border of the Havre-Saint-Pierre (HSP) anorthosite complex.

The HSP complex is home to the Rio Tinto’s 151 million tonne (Mt) Lac Tio Titanium Mine, the largest solid ilmenite deposit in the world. The complex also hosts numerous other vanadium, titanium, iron, copper, nickel, cobalt, platinum-group elements (PGEs), and Rare Earth (REE) deposits and showings.

The Dana Project is located on the western edge of the HSP complex (Figure 1). The project covers an area of 9.26 kilometres squared (km2) and contains 12 historic showings that occur over a strike length of 4.5 km and are spatially associated with a series of EM anomalies.

These showings have returned high-grade polymetallic mineralisation at the surface, including:

·?????? 4.50% Cu, 1.69% Ni, 0.09% Co and 537 ppb PGE (Thierry)

·?????? 2.36% Cu, 0.37% Ni and 0.10% Co (Chauve)

·?????? 2.84% Cu, 0.53% Ni, 0.12% Co and 1 452 ppb PGE (Becassine)

Magmatic Nickel-Copper-Cobalt-PGE Deposits

Magmatic nickel-copper-cobalt-PGE mineralisation in the Grenville Province occurs at convergent margins where there is a large volume of mafic rock contained within an intrusion. These areas have often undergone multi-stage reworking and recycling of sulfide liquid in long-lived magmatic systems. In these systems, structures such as faults can often contain significant levels of mineralisation.

The Dana Project, fits the magmatic model, with a substantial volume of gabbro that has already been proven to host high-grade nickel-copper mineralisation at the surface. Despite the significant role faults play in the formation of this type of deposit, they have remained underexplored on the Dana Property.

Future work

Tarku continues to focus on its flagship projects’ Three A's in Quebec and its Silver Strike in Arizona but believes that the staking of the Dana Project adds significant longer-term value to the company at a minimal cost.

Tarku is now busy consolidating all the existing geological information from the Dana, ahead of an upcoming exploration programme.
