“Let Your Light Shine”
And
Set Your Peak Performance Level
We all have hidden potential – no one is excluded – we just need to tap into it. That’s much easier said than done due to a lifetime of social, economic, and environmental conditioning. ?
We idolize the rich and famous for what they have accomplished… while not considering any advantage they began their journey with….
We seldom recognize and celebrate those that have gone the farthest. ?Those that have been tried by the fires of adversity and hardship and yet nevertheless, reached the pinnacle of their true potential…They have gone the farthest! These people are the true examples of what it means to unleash your hidden potential! It was their Character and Attitude that established their Peak Performance!
It’s not where you start in Life…
But how far you go…
Your worth will not be determined by what you’ve achieved or what you’ve acquired… It will be determined by the person you’ve become and how you contribute to and help others in their journey.
REMEMBER…
There is no expiration date for unlocking your full potential!
Your Character and your Attitude matter most!
?
Confidence and self-esteem should come from who you are and who you are becoming – your character – not from your status or your success.
?
What is your potential? How bright is your light? How far can you go?
What are you willing to do? Where do I start?
?
It doesn’t matter where you started from as much as it matters
how far you’ve come!
“The true measure of your potential is not the height of the peak you’ve reached, but how far you’ve climbed to get there.” ~ Adam Grant
FOPO!
According to Michael Gervais, a high-performance psychologist, “…the biggest obstacle to unlocking our human potential is our fear of people’s opinions! FOPO for short.
This fear stops us in our tracks and is so pervasive and familiar in our society that we often don’t recognize it. It is a stumbling block to our decision-making abilities, our feelings of worthiness, and our perception of success and failure.”
“With FOPO, we are held hostage by the unseen, often imagined, judgements and expectations of others.” ~ Michael Gervais
?
The second biggest culprit is Procrastination!
We all procrastinate, and modest procrastination can be quite valuable. It gives us time to contemplate, ponder and consider new opportunities for more creative ideas to flow into a plan of action.
Why do we procrastinate? The list is long and includes FOPO…
·?????? Lack of motivation
·?????? Fear of other people’s opinions
·?????? Fear of failure
·?????? Not knowing what to do
·?????? Nor knowing how to do something
·?????? Perfectionism
·?????? Poor time management
·?????? Task aversion
·?????? Lack of self-discipline
·?????? Overwhelm
·?????? Low self-esteem
·?????? Distractions
·?????? Lack of accountability
·?????? Delayed rewards
Adam Grant adds his perspective… “Many people associate procrastination with laziness. But psychologists find that procrastination is not a time management problem—it’s an emotion management problem. When you procrastinate, you’re not avoiding effort. You’re avoiding the unpleasant feelings that the activity stirs up. Sooner or later, though, you realize that you’re also avoiding getting where you want to go.”
The Vision: To help anyone and everyone that is willing to unleash their hidden potential to achieve whatever they desire and more importantly to become the person they most desire to be.
So, how do we overcome the fear of FOPO?
Overcoming the fear of people's opinions is a common challenge, but it's an essential step in unlocking your full potential. Here are some strategies to help you overcome this fear:
1.???? Self-awareness: Understand and acknowledge your fear. Recognize that everyone has opinions, and they are entitled to them. Your value is not determined by the opinions of others.
?
2.???? Challenge negative thoughts: When you catch yourself thinking negatively about what others might think, challenge those thoughts. Ask yourself if there's evidence supporting those beliefs or if they are based on assumptions.

3.???? Focus on self-worth: Develop a strong sense of self-worth independent of external validation. Know your strengths, values, and accomplishments, and recognize that your worth is not contingent on the approval of others.
?
4.???? Set realistic expectations: Understand that you can't please everyone. People have different perspectives and preferences. Focus on being true to yourself rather than trying to conform to others' expectations.
?
5.???? Embrace imperfection: Accept that nobody is perfect. Allow yourself to make mistakes and learn from them. Perfection is an unrealistic standard, and the fear of judgment often stems from a desire to meet this unattainable goal.
?
6.???? Gradual exposure: Gradually expose yourself to situations that trigger fear of judgment. Start with smaller challenges and progressively work your way up. This can help build resilience and confidence.
?
7.???? Positive affirmations: Use positive affirmations to reinforce a positive self-image. Remind yourself of your strengths and capabilities. Repeat these affirmations regularly to counteract negative self-talk.
?
8.???? Surround yourself with supportive people: Seek out relationships with people who support and encourage you. Having a strong support system can provide a buffer against the negative impact of others' opinions.
?
9.???? Learn from criticism: Instead of viewing criticism as a personal attack, see it as an opportunity for growth. Constructive feedback can be valuable in helping you improve, and it doesn't define your worth.
?
10.? Focus on your goals: Keep your focus on your long-term goals and aspirations. When you have a clear sense of purpose, the opinions of others may become less influential in shaping your self-perception.
?
Remember that overcoming the fear of people's opinions is a process that takes time and practice. Be patient with yourself and celebrate your progress along the way.
Next, how do we overcome procrastination?
Overcoming procrastination can be challenging, but there are several strategies you can try to help manage and ultimately overcome it. Here are some tips:
?
1.???? Break Tasks into Smaller Steps: Large tasks can be overwhelming and lead to procrastination. ???Break them down into smaller, more manageable steps. This makes the task seem less daunting and more achievable.
?
2.???? Set Clear Goals: Clearly define your goals and objectives. Knowing exactly what you need to accomplish can provide clarity and motivation.
?
3.???? Prioritize Tasks: Prioritize your tasks based on importance and deadlines. Tackling high-priority tasks first can create a sense of accomplishment and motivate you to continue working.
?
4.???? Use Time Management Techniques: Techniques like the Pomodoro Technique (working for a set period and then taking a break) can help maintain focus and prevent burnout.
?
5.???? Create a Schedule: Develop a daily or weekly schedule. Having a routine can help establish good habits and reduce the likelihood of procrastination.
?
6.???? Remove Distractions: Identify and eliminate distractions in your environment. This may include turning off notifications, finding a quiet workspace, or using website blockers.
?
7.???? Visualize Success: Imagine the positive outcomes of completing a task. Visualization can be a powerful motivator.
?
8.???? Set Realistic Deadlines: Establish realistic deadlines for yourself. This creates a sense of urgency and can prevent you from putting off tasks indefinitely.
?
9.???? Find Accountability Partners: Share your goals with friends, family, or colleagues who can help hold you accountable. Knowing that others are aware of your commitments can increase your motivation.
?
10.? Reward Yourself: Establish a system of rewards for completing tasks. Treat yourself to something enjoyable after finishing a challenging project.
?
11.? Address Perfectionism: Perfectionism can contribute to procrastination. Understand that it's okay to make mistakes and that tasks don't need to be perfect.
?
12.? Start with the Easiest Task: Begin your day by tackling the easiest or most enjoyable task on your to-do list. This can provide a positive start and build momentum for more challenging tasks.
?
13.? Understand the Reasons for Procrastination: Reflect on why you are procrastinating. Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unmotivated? Understanding the underlying reasons can help you address the root cause.
?
14.? Seek Professional Help: If procrastination is significantly impacting your life, consider seeking help from a coach, mentor, teacher or counselor. They can assist you in exploring and addressing deeper issues that may contribute to procrastination.
?
Remember that overcoming procrastination is a gradual process, and finding the strategies that work best for you may require some experimentation. Be patient with yourself and celebrate small victories along the way.
